Our Story

Optical Waters was founded to solve a fundamental problem with UV disinfection: getting the light where it actually needs to go. Traditional UV lamps and LEDs work in open spaces, but they struggle with pipes, channels, and complex surfaces where biological buildup happens most.

We developed OptoStrand — a patent-pending UV-C side-emitting optical fiber that glows with germicidal light along its entire length. Instead of pointing UV at a surface from a distance, you integrate OptoStrand fibers directly into the surface itself. Lay them in arrays, wrap them around structures, thread them through tight spaces — and deliver UV-C exactly where contamination happens.

Optical Waters Inc is based in Amherst, Massachusetts. We are in early production and work directly with customers to develop UV-C fiber solutions for their specific applications.
